Governance Model

Montessori School of Calgary ensures long-term sustainability that embodies the core AMI Montessori principals. The administration continually examines policies and procedures that elevate our best-practices in all areas including health and safety, technology, regulatory requirements and professional development. MSofC moved from an individual-steward business model to a broader governance model and in April 2016 Montessori School of Calgary introduced a Board of Directors comprised of individuals from within our Montessori community as well as external stakeholders All of our board members demonstrate an understanding and commitment to AMI Montessori principles.

Board Chair : Charity Shonhiwa (M.A. CPHR. AECP. CUCA. PGDHTE)

A maximizer of potential who grows people and organizations. Twenty-six years of Human Resources experience under her belt with a demonstrated history of working in the private, public and NGO sectors. Mrs Shonhiwa is a holder of a master's in work, organizations and leadership; a post graduate diploma in higher and tertiary education focused on higher education administration; a diploma in Human Resources, and a certificate in university and college administration.

President : Chakanetsa Maranga

A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe, Mr. Maranga obtained his Bachelor of Science with Honors plus, a Diploma in Education. Mr. Maranga has 25 years in education that have included roles as a middle and high school English and History teacher, a High Program Director, and a professional soccer trainer for schools, Districts, and Provinces.

Vice President : Stacktion Chichetu

After a three-year stint as an Assistant Teacher at Linchwe II Secondary School in Botswana, Mr. Chichetu left teaching for Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA where he majored in Economics and Management and graduated with a BA magna-cum-laude. After graduating, he returned home to Zimbabwe and joined the Ministry of Industry & Commerce where he rose through the ranks to the position of Assistant Secretary responsible for Overseas Trade Relations, a position that entailed negotiating trade agreements with various countries. After 10 years in the civil service he then moved to the private sector where he held several senior management positions with a leading Car Dealership, culminating in the position of National Sales & Marketing Manager before his retirement.
